Pierre Basketball Hosts Mitchell in Friday Afternoon Game, Girls Travel to Corn Palace

Today the Pierre Governors will both have a big test taking on the Mitchell Kernels as both the girls and boys Kernel teams are in the top two of the AA standings.

The Governor boys will play in the afternoon with a 3:00 tip off as the Kernels come into town at 15-1 and still are atop the AA standings. Mitchell’s only loss came at the beginning of the 2024 calendar year with a loss to the Harrisburg Tigers, the number two team in the state. But since then have won nine straight including Tuesday’s win over the Washington Warriors. Pierre comes in at 10-7 after its overtime win over the Brookings Bobcats on Tuesday.

The girls will still play at the normal time this evening at the Corn Palace as the Kernels just dropped its first game of the season on Tuesday with a 50-34 loss to the Washington Warriors. Mitchell is still 15-1 and in second place in the AA standings. The Governors are 12-5 and in sixth place in the AA standings after handling the Bobcats at home on Tuesday.
