Capitals Have First of Back-to-Back Three Game Weekends

This weekend, the Oahe Capitals will have its first of two straight three game weekends with a road trip to Rapid City tonight and then home games on Saturday and Sunday against Yankton.

The Capitals take on the number two team in the state tonight, the Rushmore Thunder, as the Caps are still battling for spots in the standings. Oahe is at 9-5-1-1 on the year and in fifth place, one point behind the Aberdeen Cougars for fourth. Rushmore comes in at 16-3 with two losses to Brookings and another loss to Sioux Falls West. It’s one of the final three games of the year against the top teams in the state with a road game against Brookings and Sioux Falls West next weekend.

Saturday and Sunday the Yankton Bucks will be in town and for the Capitals, it’s a chance to finish putting the bow on the eight teams in the state tournament. Yankton is the only team outside the top eight that can still reach the state tournament. However, if the Bucks lose both games to the Caps it’ll all but end the hopes of reaching the state tournament for the first time ever in varsity. The Bucks are 4-12-0-1 on the year.

Coverage tonight begins around 7:30 Central time with puck drop at 8:00 on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports as games on Saturday and Sunday at home will be at 6:00 and 3:30 at the Expo Center. Jon Winkler will have the calls.
