South Dakota Community Foundation Grants Money To White River Grandstand Committee For Sound System At Rodeo Arena

WHITE RIVER (KCCR) — The South Dakota Community Foundation has awarded 10-thousand dollars from the South Dakota Fund grant to a non-profit group in Mellette County. The White River Grandstand Committee is getting the money to help with upgrades to the sound system at the local rodeo arena. The White River Grandstand Committee started as a sub-committee of the local American Legion chapter with a goal of replacing unsafe seating areas and bleachers. The group not only hit the goal of improved seating, but expanded to support all of the arena. The White River Grandstand Committee is still seeking funds to complete the sound system project. Committee Treasurer Donna Green says having the sound system will make the spectator experience more pleasurable and will hopefully keep people coming back to White River for other events at the arena. She says the arena is important to the area not only for the support it generates for local businesses but will enhance the community both socially and spiritually.
