The Pierre Governor gymnastics team, at their home gym, would place sixth place in the state gymnastics meet on Friday as Neveah Karber would place ninth in the All-Around individually, making all-state.
On Friday, the Govs would score a 31.432 in the bars, 35.715 on the beam, 34.648 on the floor and 36.016 in the vault. Overall, the Govs would finish with a 137.811 for sixth place, but only three points back of third with Watertown and O’Gorman score a 140 and Brookings a 139. Mitchell would score a 151.444 edging out Harrisburg for the state championship. Estelline/Hendricks would win the Class A state championship with a score of 142.596.
Individually, the Govs were led by Karber who placed ninth in the All-Around scoring a 35.682. Karber would place 21st in the vault, 14th in the bars, 13th in the beam and 19th on the floor. All scors for Karber were team highs for the Govs and Ryen Sheppick would place 13th overall in All-Around. Katelyn Maeschen of Harrisburg would score a 38.799 overall to win the individual All-Around state championship.
