Sully Buttes Boys Kick it in Gear, Roll Past Herreid/Selby Area

After a slow first few minutes, the Sully Buttes Charger boys put the pedal down and sped their way to a 61-46 victory Tuesday night against the Herreid/Selby Area Wolverines in Selby.

Sully Buttes led 20-16 after the first quarter, and started to roll outscoring the Wolverines 31-17 in the next two quarters to lead 52-33 at the end of three.

Both teams were without starters as Trevor Gill, the leading scorer for Herreid/Selby Area and Gavin Barber, a leading rebounder for Sully Buttes were both out sick.

Wesley Wittler led all scorers with 26 points and Teagen Westpahl came in off the bench and hit for 12 points along with solid defense. In fact, the Chargers backcourt of Wittler and Gavin Colson each had multiple steals of the ball to help Sully Buttes push their record to 6-7 on the season. Herreid Selby Area was led in scoring by senior Wade Grage’s 14 points for the 3-14 Wolverines.

Next up for Sully Buttes is a girls/boys home doubleheader against Mobridge Pollock Thursday night. The next Charger boys broadcast comes Saturday afternoon in Aberdeen as the Chargers travel to take on the Aberdeen Christian Knights. Catch that game on Country 95.3FM with DT Meyer on the call.
