Sioux Falls Second Period Dooms Caps

In the final home game of the year for the Oahe Lady Capitals, the Sioux Falls Flyers would knock off the Caps 7-1 Sunday afternoon at the Expo Center using a big second period.

Raegyn Peska had scored the lone goal of the first period for the Flyers, but early on in the second, Lucy Nelson and Emma Honner would each score a goal 18 seconds a part to put the Flyers up 3-0 and it would be all they needed. But after Brylee Kafka would score to make it 3-1, the Flyers would get a last minute goal by Peska to take a 4-1 lead after two periods. Peska and Honner would each record a hat trick in the third dropping the Capitals record to 8-4-1 with the loss as Sophia Peschong made 14 saves on 21 shots before Kylee Fromm entered the game and recorded the last two saves on two shots. Sioux Falls’ Sydney Fornwald made 12 saves on 13 shots. The Flyers improve to 11-1.

The Lady Caps will finish the season this coming Sunday against the Aberdeen Cougars. Coverage will begin around 10:30 Sunday morning with puck drop at 11:00 on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports.
