The Oahe Lady Capitals would beat the Rushmore Thunder 3-2 Saturday afternoon at the Expo Center, hanging on for two points to secure them a top four spot in the standings.
Micah Buffalo and Dakota McEntaffer would each score a goal in the first period to take a 2-0 lead. McEntaffer would score her second of the game which both goals were her first of the season to give the Caps a 3-0 advantage through two periods. Mallory Chisolm would score both Rushmore girls with 4:07 and 11 seconds remaining in the game to get the Thunder within one, but Rushmore never got a chance to get a shot away in the dying seconds as the Capitals hold on for the win to improve to 8-3-1. Sophia Peschong made 15 saves on 17 shots for her eighth win of the season. The win secures the Caps at least the four seed at the state tournament.
Oahe will have its senior night today hosting the Sioux Falls Flyers. Coverage will begin at 1:30 with puck drop at 2:00 from the Expo Center in Ft. Pierre on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
