The Stanley County boys basketball team would use two huge quarters to run ahead of the Chamberlain Cubs on the road on Thursday for a 65-55 victory.
Paxton Deal went 6-6 from the free throw line in the final minutes of the game to help secure the win as the Buffaloes improve to 9-7 on the year. The Buffs trailed at the end of the first quarter with 13-7 deficit, but allowed Chamberlain just four points in the second quarter including a 15-0 run in the second taking a 24-17 lead at the break. The Buffs exploded for 21 points in the third to lead 45-29 at the end of the three quarters and led by as many as 20 in the fourth. Chamberlain did cut the lead to nine late in the fourth before Deal went to the line three separate times to finish off the win. Chamberlain falls to 1-13 with the loss.
Stanley County will be on the road Monday to face the Bennett County Warriors. Tip off will be around 8:15 Central Time Bennett County High School.
