The Pierre Governors would roll passed the Yankton Bucks on Friday night at home with a dominating second quarter for a 61-34 victory.
Pierre led just 11-9 at the end of the first quarter but outscored Yankton 25-4 in the second to take a 36-13 lead at the break and never let Yankton back in the ballgame. Dawson Getz would finish with a game high 16 points while Luke Olson would add 11, Tyan Buus with 10 and Cooper Terwilliger with nine coming off the bench for the Govs. Pierre shot 10-13 from the free throw line and got the chance to empty the bench and get everybody into the game on the evening. Landon Potts had 12 for Yankton, the only player in double figures as they fall to 2-11 on the season.
Pierre improves to 9-6 and will face another ESD rival, this time the Huron Tigers. Tip off from the Huron Arena on Tuesday will be at 7:00.
