Wrestling Hosts Mitchell in Final Duals of the Season

The Pierre Governor wrestling teams will be competing in duals for the final time this year coming up tonight from Riggs High School as the Mitchell Kernels will be in town.

The Governor boys are into the final dual with the state tournament coming up on Saturday, February 10 when Pierre will travel to Brookings for the state tournament. Pierre sits in second place in the Class A standings and while the seed point average won’t go up tonight regardless of the outcome, a win helps secure a top two spot heading into the state duals. Mitchell is at 2-13 on the season and a win against the Kernels secures the ESD title with only one loss to Brandon Valley inside the conference.

On the girls side, its another chance to help secure girls into the individual state tournament. The Governors are undefeated in duals at 5-0 while Mitchell is 1-2 with a 30-18 loss to Brookings in its latest dual. The Governors can finish with an undefeated dual season with just tournaments remaining before the state tournament at the end of February.

The girls will wrestle first at 6:00 and the boys to follow at Riggs High School tonight.
