The Pierre Governor girls basketball team traded leads back and forth throughout the night, but it was Harrisburg in the second half creating a 10 point lead and holding on for a 54-50 victory on Tuesday.
The Govs never led at any of the quarter ends, but did lead in the first and second quarters before trailing by three at the half 24-21. Harrisburg hit five threes of their 19 points in the third quarter to extend its lead to eight by the end of the three and while the Govs got the lead all the way down to two, Pierre didn’t get the shot to fall and Harrisburg went 4-4 from the free throw line in the fourth to secure the win. Sadie Mehrman had a game high 19 points for the Tigers who improve to 8-3 on the season. Abigail Flanagan finished with 14 points including four threes. Pierre went 12-13 from the line keeping them in the contest as Ryann Barry had a team high 16 while Reese Terwilliger had 14 and Lennix DuPris finished with 13. Pierre drops to 9-5 on the season.
