Chargers Split Doubleheader at Warner Saturday

The Sully Buttes Charger girls ran into a brick wall, put up by the fast moving Warner Monarchs in game one of a doubleheader Saturday. Final score; Warner 52, Sully Buttes 35. The Charger boys returned the favor to Warner by posting a 52-38 victory to close out the afternoon.

The girls were dwarfed by a starting lineup that boasts starters that are; 6′ 1″, 6’0″ two at 5’9″, and 5’7″. Kyra Marcusson led all scorers with 15 points, while Kyleigh Schoop added 11. The Chargers were led by Olivia Olson and Stevie Wittlers’ 11 points apiece. The Monarch girls are now 13-1, while the Chargers fall to 6-7.

The boys game had players and coaches missing from the lineup. Senior Hunter Cramer for Warner missed his third straight game nursing a badly sprained ankle. Sully Buttes was missing head coach Brian White and sophomore guard Gavin Colson who were both out sick.

The boys trailed 23-22 at the half, but pulled ahead 36-34 after three, and outscored Warner 16-4 in the final quarter. Wesley Wittler found his shot, and rang up 31 points for the 4-7 Charger boys, while Trever Marshall added 12. Warner was led in scoring by Brody Sauerwein’s 17 points. The Monarch boys are now 8-6.
