Eagle Butte Man Sentenced For Second Time On Federal Firearms Charge

PIERRE, (KCCR) —An Eagle Butte man is sentenced in federal court on a firearms allegation. U-S Attorney Alison Ramsdell says 45 year-old Philip Lamar Nordvold was sentenced last Monday by Chief Judge Roberto Lange to 18 months in federal custody to be followed by three years of supervised release. A federal grand jury indicted Nordvold on a charge of Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person in April of last year. He pleaded guilty in November. Going back to 2015, Nordvold was convicted of Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person. Ramsdell says within a three month time period of May 16th of 2022 Nordvold was again in possession of a firearm, this time near Eagle Butte. The Heritage Manufacturing revolver Nordvold was discovered with had a serial number that had been destroyed. Following sentencing, Nordvold was taken into the custody of the U-S Marshals Service to begin serving his sentence.
