The Sully Buttes Charger girls notched a victory to get their record back to .500 thanks to a 49-40 victory Thursday night against Hitchcock-Tulare, but the Charger boys ran out of gas in the fourth quarter and dropped a 54-46 contest against the Patriot boys team at the Tulare gym.

The girls trailed 24-21 at halftime, but turned it on with a 19 point third quarter against the Patriots to take a 40-32 lead after three. Both teams played even in the fourth and the Chargers upped their season mark to 6-6, the first time Sully Buttes was at the .500 mark since January 6th.

Leading the way was Stevie Wittler with 24 points, while Addyson Chicoine caught fire in the third quarter hitting on two big threes and finishing with 13 points.

Hitchcock Tulare was led in scoring by junior Katelyn Schroeder with 11 for the 3-10 Patriots.

Meanwhile, in the second game the Charger boys came out strong and led 22-15 at the half over the senior led Patriots. Sully Buttes started to slip in the third quarter and trailed 36-35 after three, thanks to cold shooting, and were outscored 18-11 in the final stanza. Sully Buttes had to resort to fouling in the last minute and Hitchcock Tulare hit on 5-8 from the free throw line. After going 4-4 after three quarters, Sully Buttes once again clanked shots at the charity stripe going 0-4, and slipping their record to now 3-7.  Hitchcock Tulare had four players in double figures led by 6’3″ senior Jackson Maynard with 17 points and are now 6-6 on the year.
