Governors Dropped by Harrisburg Friday Night

The Pierre Governor boys basketball team had no answer for the Harrisburg Tigers falling 65-29 Friday night on the road in Harrisburg.

Pierre’s only lead was a 2-0 advantage to start the game as Harrisburg went on a 9-0 run. The Govs got back within 9-7, but trailed 18-7 at the end of the first quarter. The Tigers then outscored the Govs to take a 32-16 lead at the end of the first half and had the continuous clock enacted in the third quarter with a 30 point lead at the end of three. Braeden VonBockern would lead all scorers with 16 points scoring 14 in the second half while Jacoby Mehrman would add 15 for the now 9-2 Tigers. Pierre was led by Jett Zabel who finished with 11 and the only player in double figures.

Pierre falls to 8-5 on the season and will get back on the court on Saturday with a game against the O’Gorman Knights. Coverage will begin at 12:30 and tip off at 1:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
