Eagle Butte Man Sentenced For Role In Assault

PIERRE, (KCCR) — An Eagle Butte man has been sentenced for his role in assault that left one victim with severe injuries to his head. U-S Attorney Alison Ramsdell says 35 year-old Taryn Ducheneaux was sentenced to one year and a day in federal prison on a charge of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. Ducheneaux was indicted last January on the charge and pleaded guilty to the charge last month. Ramsdell says Ducheneaux was with others at a home in Eagle Butte attending a bonfire in August of 2022. The victim had parked a vehicle across the street to pick-up clothing from a neighbor. A verbal exchange led to an altercation between Ducheneaux, the victim and others at the bonfire. Ducheneaux, during the altercation struck the victim in the head with a baseball bat causing a serious brain injury. Ducheneaux was taken into custody by the U-S Marshals Service following sentencing. He was sentenced to serve three years of supervised release upon completion of the prison term.
