Pierre Basketball Faces Aberdeen Central Looking to get Back in Win Column

With both Governor basketball teams having the weekend off, the Govs will get its first game of the week as both teams will play three games this week, first against Aberdeen Central.

The Governor girls will have to be on the road again, but after tonight will finally be back home for Thursday and Friday games. Pierre hasn’t played at home since Saturday January 6, but want one more road victory before getting back at home. The Govs, at 7-3, face the fifth ranked Golden Eagles who are coming in at 8-3 but have lost back-to-back games. It’s an important matchup for the Govs who are currently in eighth place in the standings and want to stay inside the top eight with the second half of the season beginning tonight.

The boys team will host the Golden Eagles as the Govs are also looking to bounce back after a loss to the Brandon Valley Lynx on Thursday. Pierre, at 7-4, face Aberdeen Central who has been spiraling over the last couple of weeks losing five of the last six including back-to-back coming into tonight. Both teams dropped its matchup to Brandon Valley last Thursday and Saturday. Aberdeen clipped the Governors in overtime last year although the Golden Eagles came into the season like the Governors with the majorities of the minutes graduated.

Jon Winkler and Blake Dean will have the call tonight from Riggs High School. Coverage begins around 6:30 with tip off at 7:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
