Second Period Dooms Capitals in Loss to Rushmore

The Rushmore Thunder would score three second period goals to defeat the Oahe Capitals 5-1 on Sunday at the Expo Center in Ft. Pierre.

The Thunder would score a goal in the first minute of the game as the Caps allow a first minute goal for the second straight game as Colton Merchen would make it 1-0 52 seconds into the game. Keller Herman would score his second goal of the season to tie the score at 1-1 at the end of one as he would back hand the tying goal off the pass from Dylan Dodson. But Cameron Ritter would score twice and Merchen would add his second of the game in the second period to take the lead for good and pick up its 13 win of the season to go to 13-1 on the season. Andrew Welling would score the lone third period goal for the Thunder. The Capitals drop its second straight game falling to 7-5-1 on the season.
