Governors Drop Games against Brandon Valley

Both Pierre Governor basketball teams couldn’t overcome the Brandon Valley Lynx on Thursday as the girls would fall on the road 50-46 while the boys dropped a 57-47 decision.

The Governor girls made a quick spurt at the end of the first quarter but trailed 12-10 at the end of one after being down 11-4 with just about two minutes remaining in the quarter. The Lynx would take a 25-22 lead at the half, but the game was tied at 36 heading into the fourth. However, Brandon Valley would take the lead early in the fourth and hold on to win and improve to 5-3 while the Govs fall to 7-3. Lennix DuPris would score 19 to lead the way for the Govs as Reese Terwilliger would go for 15 as well.

On the boys side, the Governors led 10-9 at the end of the first quarter, but after that it would be the Lynx who would lead with a 10-0 run to start the second and hold on from there. Aiden Zerr had nine of his 13 points in the second quarter to control the game for Brandon Valley. Luke Olson would have the game high 21 points which included nine in the fourth quarter trying to help the Govs rally late in the game. Pierre was cold shooting in the second and third quarters to start and couldn’t recover. Josh Olthoff for Brandon Valley had 17 points for the team high while Brayden Miller finished with 10. Pierre’s Jett Zabel hit for 11 points on the night. Brandon Valley improves to just 4-3 on the season while the Govs fall to 7-4.

Both Governor teams will take on the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles on Tuesday next week. The girls will be back on the road and the boys will be at home with tip off of both games at 7:00.
