Governor Girls Travel to Brandon Valley, Boys Lynx

After two wins on Tuesday, the Pierre Governor basketball teams will get back on the court tonight with the girls traveling once again, this time to Brandon Valley while the boys will be hosting the Lynx.

Both Governor teams have seven wins on the season, but the girls sit at 7-2 with a postponed game last Thursday. Pierre has moved into the eight seed in AA and face the nine seed tonight as Brandon Valley is at 4-3. With still half the regular season remaining for both teams, it’s just a small potential of this being a preview of a SoDak 16 contest. Brandon Valley had its weekend postponed against Spearfish and Douglas so its been 13 days since the last time the Lynx were on the court. It was the team’s third straight win beating Brookings 49-42. Brandon Valley shot lights out last year in Pierre winning 75-69.

On the boys side, the Governors are now at 7-3 and have jumped to the seventh spot in the AA standings facing 3-3 Brandon Valley. The Lynx boys team also had its weekend postponed against Spearfish and Douglas and have not played since beating Brookings on Friday, January 5. The Govs want to exploit the rust which could be shown from Brandon Valley. Brandon Valley won a buzzer beater over the Govs last year in BV.

Both games are scheduled for tip off at 7:00 with the boys game at home to be broadcast on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler and Blake Dean on the call.
