The Pierre Governor basketball teams were dominant in both the girls and boys games on Tuesday night as the Pierre girls would beat the Douglas Patriots on the road 65-44 and the Governor boys with a 64-37 win at home.
The Governor girls improve to 7-2 with the win having played for the first time in 10 days. After last Thursday’s game with Lakota Tech was postponed due to the weather Pierre had the entire week off for practice and had not played since Saturday, January 6 when they beat the Washington Warriors. The Govs didn’t show any rust beating the Patriots. Lennix DuPris had 26 points to lead the way for the Govs knocking down six threes. Reese Terwilliger had 15 and Ryann Barry had 11 for three Govs in double figures.
The Governor boys would pick up their seventh win as well knocking off the Patriots at home. The Govs lead 19-11 at the end of the first quarter, but then took control with the foul trouble by Douglas. Dawson Getz had 19 points to lead the way for the Govs while Cade Kaiser had 17 for Pierre. Pierre is now 7-3 on the season while Douglas falls to 2-7.
The Governors will take on the Brandon Valley Lynx on Thursday with the boys staying at home and the girls once again on the road. Tip off for both games will be at 7:00.
