Boys Wrestling Hosts Watertown Friday, Tourney in Mitchell Saturday, Girls Canceled in Harrisburg

Tonight the Pierre Governor boys wrestling team will be at home for the second time all season as they host the Watertown Arrows in a dual before traveling to Mitchell on Saturday. The Pierre Governor girls were scheduled to be in Harrisburg today as well, but the tournament has been canceled.

The Governors had its tournament win last Saturday at the Mid-Dakota Monster and now will be looking to stay undefeated in the ESD duals. Pierre beat Watertown 44-21 in the regular season last year. The Arrows are 6-1 in duals with its only loss to the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles.

After the dual on Friday the Governors will travel to Mitchell for a one day tournament for the Jerry Opbrook Tournament at the Mitchell High School. The day begins at 9:00.

The Governor girls wrestled in Harrisburg last week with a dominating game, but the Govs won’t get the chance to go back and wrestle again. And because it is a tournament and it’s nearly impossible to line up a time where every team is free the rest of the season, the tournament is canceled and there will not be a makeup date.

The dual is set to begin at 7:00 tonight from Riggs High School.
