The Kadoka Area Kougars would hold off a charging Stanley County Buffalo squad as the Kougars would win the first round matchup at the Jones County Tournament 76-68 on Thursday.
Stanley County trailed by as many as 16 in the second half but had pulled the deficit within eight, but couldn’t get any closer than that as the Kougars would hit their free throws down the stretch to pick up the win. The Kougars improve to 3-5 while the Buffs fall to 3-6. Broch Zeeb would lead the Buffs with 22 points in the loss. Paxton Deal finished with 14 points and Eddie Duffy would have nine. For Kadoka Area, they were led by Garrett Herman with the game high 26 points while Gus Stout finished with 23.
The Buffaloes will play the Colome Cowboys on Friday with a 1:00 tip off in the consolation semifinals. Kodoka Area will play at 6:00 against White River in the championship semifinals.
