Swim Team Competes at ASC Winter High Point

Pierre Swim team had an impressive performance at the 2024 SD ASC Winter High Point, held on January 6th & January 7th at Aberdeen, SD. The club sent 19 swimmers to compete in various age groups and events and won 10 high point awards and 38 state qualifying times.

The high point awards are given to the top eight swimmers in each age group based on their cumulative points from individual events. The state qualifying times are the minimum standards required to participate in the South Dakota State Championships.

The following are the highlights of PST’s results at the Winter High Point:

– In the Girls 7-8 Division:

Andrea DeMers won the 7th place high point award and placed in the top 10 in all of her events, with her best finish being 4th in the 50 back.

– In the Girls 9-10 Division:

Lydia Kroon won the 4th place high point award and placed in the top 4 in all of her events, with her best finish being 1st in the 50 back.

– In the Girls 13-14 Division:

Ann Tjeerdsma won the 2nd place high point award and earned eight state qualifying times in all of her events, with her best finishes being 1st in the 200 free and 100 back.

Evie Caveny won the 6th place high point award and earned a state qualifying time in the 50 free, with her best finish being 4th in the 100 breaststroke.

– In the Girls 15-16 Division:

Charlie Hull won the 1st place high point award and earned eight state qualifying times in all of her events, with her best finishes being 1st in the 50 free, 200 back, and 400 IM.

– In the Boys 6 & Under Division:

Jasper Williams won the 3rd place high point award and placed in the top 3 in all his events, with his best finish being 1st in the 50 free.

– In the Boys 7-8 Division:

Bentley Frost won the 2nd place high point award and earned eight state qualifying times in all of his events, with his best finish being 1st in the 50 back.

Lawson Kroon won the 3rd place high point award and earned eight state qualifying times in all of his events, with his best finish being 1st in the 25 back.

Lucas Kroon won the 7th place high point award and earned six state qualifying times, with his best finish being 6th in the 50 back.

Anton Todd earned four state qualifying times, with his best finish being 5th in the 25 free.

– In the Boys 9-10 Division:

Bodie Bramblee won the 3rd place high point award and earned eight state qualifying times in all of his events, with his best finish being 1st in the 50 free.

Gannon Northrup won the 6th place high point award and earned a state qualifying time in the 50 back, with his best finish being 4th in the 50 breaststroke.

– In the Boys 11-12 Division:

Henry Barnett won the 8th place high point award and placed in the top 10 in all of his events, with his best finish being 3rd in the 50 free.

– In the Boys 13-14 Division:

Ry Schaefbauer won the 8th place high point award and earned six state qualifying times, with his best finish being 2nd in the 50 free.

– In the Boys 15-16 Division:

Mason Ward-Zeller won the 1st place high point award and earned eight state qualifying times in all his events, with his best finishes being 1st in the 50 free, 100 back, 200 back, 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke, 100 fly, 200 fly, and 100 IM.

Bryce Bowman placed in the top 5 in all his events, with his best finish being 3rd in the 50 free.

– In the Boys 17-19 Division:

Kelan Harris won the 5th place high point award and earned eight state qualifying times in all his events, with his best finishes being 2nd in the 200 free and 100 IM.
