Capitals Shutout Storm in Weekend Road Sweep

The Oahe Capitals would dominate the Sioux Center Storm on Saturday and Sunday rolling to two shutouts, 8-0 and 11-0 as the winning streak is pushed to four straight games.

A five goal first period on Saturday led the Capitals to help cruise into a victory with a six goal lead quickly coming in the second period as run time would speed up over half the game. Devin and Dylan Dodson would each score two goals while Barrett Schweitzer, Jarron Beck, Luke Miller and Keegan Kitts all would score in the win for Oahe. Spencer Anderson would record his first shutout of the season and second straight win stopping all 16 shots against. The Capitals went 4-6 on the power play.

Then on Sunday, Oahe had just a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period, but with a 3-0 advantage, the Capitals would strike for four goals in a span of three minutes late in the second period to take a 7-0 lead through two. Another four goals in the third would finish off the weekend with a strong win as Beck would record a hat trick while Dodson, Schweitzer and Aiden Dozark would all score twice and Kitts and Keller Herman would each score a goal in the win. Jaxon Jungwirth recorded the team’s second straight shutout in net and his second shutout of the season in as many starts with a 17 save afternoon.

Oahe improves to 6-3-1 on the season and have recorded a point in each of the last six games going 5-0-1. The Capitals will have a big test next weekend taking on the defending state champion and undefeated Brookings Rangers. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:00 in Brookings on Saturday.
