PIERRE, (KCCR) — Hughes and Stanley Counties will have new leadership in 2024. Hughes County Commission Tom Rounds was elected to serve as that body’s chair for the next year. Commissioner Randy Brown was elected the group’s vice chair. The Stanley County Commission also reorganized this week. Craig Heller will serve as Stanley County Commission Chairman with Dana Iverson to serve as vice chairman. Both counties agreed to pay increases for their employees. Hughes County employees will see a four-percent bump in pay this year while Stanley County employees will get a two-percent increase in pay. Neither Commission approved pay increases for themselves. Hughes County Commissioners make just short of 17-thousand dollars a year for their service while their Mountain Time Zone counterparts make around 10-thousand, 200 dollars per year. Stanley County hasn’t increased pay for Commissioners since 2018. Stanley County also agreed to retain Emergency Management services with Hughes County and new Emergency Manager Troy Blevins for 2024.
