Charger Girls Win Ugly Contest Against Philip

Using pressure defense and fast paced offense, the Philip Lady Scotties pushed and clutched against Sully Buttes, but the Chargers had too much low post presence, and as a result, came away with a 58-44 victory Tuesday night to improve to 4-2 on the season.

The Chargers were led down low by Payge Bakker, who finished with 20 points, but left the game late in the second half after banging knees with a driving Lady Scotty player.  Bakker never returned, and no other information was available on the severity of the injury.  Stevie Wittler was pressured and harassed all night long bringing the ball up against a pressing, ball hawking Lady Scotties team that forced the Chargers into 28 turnovers for the game.  Wittler finished with 16 points before fouling out in the final minute of the contest.

For Philip, junior Mattisen Reckling led with 11 points-Josie Jones finished with 10 and Fayth Martin added seven for the 3-3 Lady Scotties.  Philip also pushed the turnover tally to 17 for the game.

Next up for Sully Buttes is a road contest Friday against Highmore Harrold, and then Saturday at the Holiday Classic in Redfield take on the Ethan Rustlers at 5PM.  Catch those games on Country 95.3FM.
