The Pierre Governors will play its one out of state game on Saturday when the Bismarck girls will come to town and the Pierre boys will travel to Bismarck.
The Governors and Demons will play for the third time in this renewed rivalry as it is the only out of state opponent for the Governors. The girls will be looking for its first win over Bismarck since the series renewed in the 2021-22 season. Pierre is 4-1 and on a four game winning streak after rolling past Watertown on Tuesday, December 19. Bismarck is at 5-3 with back-to-back wins over Legacy and St. Mary’s. Bismarck is led by Paige Breuer and Jersey Berg, each averaging 14 points per game.
On the boys side, the Governors are coming in at 3-2 falling to Watertown by three. While almost everyone who played last year for the Govs graduated, this was the game which Pierre became “Dunk City” in 2022-23 season. Bismarck is currently 3-4 and will play Grand Forks Red River tonight before hosting the Governors on Saturday. Andre Austin leads the Demons averaging 15.8 points per game.
The boys game in Bismarck is scheduled to tip off at 2:45 while the girls contest will be at 3:00 in Pierre. You can catch the girls game on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with coverage beginning at 2:30. Jon Winkler has the call.
