Zabel Brothers Get Opportunity to Play Together

Four years apart, Grey and Jett Zabel would sign their National Letters of Intent to play football at North Dakota State. In 2019, Grey had just finished his final season winning a third straight state championship with the Pierre Governors. Jett was just an eighth grader. In 2023, Jett finished his final season with the Governors adding a seventh straight state championship. Now, the two will play college football together next fall.

Both Grey and older brother Peyton had a chance to play football in high school together and were a part of the team who won the second state championship since 2013 and the first of the streak of seven. Both Zabel brothers have held the memory high on the list of accomplishments in their decorated sports career. However, Jett was just a year too young and wasn’t able to step foot on the same sideline or field as Grey. Now, Grey will get a chance to play for a fifth year and he and Jett will be able to share the field for the first time. Grey says it’s a dream come true to play with your brother in college…

The coaching change didn’t throw a wrench into the plans, but with any change in the coaching staff you need a chance to sit and think through the options you might have. Grey said playing with your brother is a once in a lifetime opportunity you can’t pass up…

Jett echoed the statement saying that family is a big reason to go to NDSU…

Grey has been a part of the 2021-22 National Championship team, reaching the finals in 2022-23 and making it the national semifinals this past year. Grey says he’s excited to get another shot at the success going into the fall of 2024…

It officially marks all three Zabel brothers signing and getting a chance to play college sports at the Division I level.
