Jones County Sweeps with Boys OT Win over Stanley County

The Jones County Coyotes basketball teams would get the best of Stanley County on Tuesday in Murdo with the girls knocking off the Lady Buffs 39-30 while the boys team would win in overtime over Stanley County 82-79.

The Lady Buffs would try to mount a comeback, but didn’t have enough time to finish off a comeback in search of its first win of the year. Jones County improves to 2-3 while Stanley County is now 0-6. Camryn Norman had nine points for the Lady Buffs for the team high and Cadence Hand would add seven. Mallory Vanard would lead all scores with 11 points on the evening for the Coyotes as BreAna Aske and Aubrey Tucker would each have nine. Both are still in junior high with Aske an eighth grader and Tucker a seventh grader.

In the boys game, Eddie Duffy was hot the entire night as he led the team with 20 points which included five three pointers. However, the Coyotes were able outscore the Buffs 10-7 in overtime to pick up the win. Jones County improves to 3-1 as the Buffs fall to 1-3. Caden Montanya 18 had Broch Zeeb with 14 and Brendon Bothwell had 11 as four different Buffs finished in double figures. Jones County was led by Cooper Fedderson who had 43 of the 82 points for the Coyotes. Kaden Kinsley added 15 as the two double figure scorers for the Coyotes. Jones County went 26-36 from the free throw line in the win.

Stanley County will be off until next week Friday when the Buffs host the Herreid/Selby Area Wolverines in a doubleheader. The girls will tip off first around 6:00 and the boys will follow at the Parkview Auditorium in Ft. Pierre.
