PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Pierre man charged for his role in a stand-off with law enforcement in March of this year is now pleading guilty to charges in the case. Fifty-two year-old Henry Jacobson was facing 10 counts of Aggravated Assault on Law Enforcement and other charges in the case. On those Aggravated Assault charges alone Jacobson was facing 250 years in prison. In a plea deal with the South Dakota Attorney General’s office Jacobson agreed to plead no contest to two of the Aggravated Assault on Law Enforcement charges. The other eight were dismissed in the deal along with four other charges. Jacobson pleaded guilty to Simple Assault Domestic Violence. He admitted in court to recklessly causing injuries to his fiancee at the time. The no contest pleas are for pointing a firearm at a Pierre Police Officer and South Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper. The change-of-plea hearing came to an abrupt pause when Jacobson was confused about the wording in the Simple Assault charge. That forced a new information to be filed with the correct language. Jacobson could be sentenced to up to 50 years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for February 2nd.
