Governors Survive Saturday, Finish Weekend Sweep

The Pierre Governor girls basketball teams would get two wins this weekend throttling Sturgis 51-13 on Friday and surviving Spearfish 49-46 on Saturday.

On Friday night the Govs had no problems against the Scoopers to pick up the second win of the season. Pierre would be led by Reese Terwilliger finishing 16 points three more than the entire Sturgis team while Lennix DuPris also outscored Sturgis adding 14.

Then on Saturday Ryann Barry would hit two free throws with one second remaining to give the Govs a 49-46 lead and then would steal the ensuing inbound attempt to seal the win for the Govs escaping with a three point win. Terwilliger, who scored with 11 seconds remaining in the fourth to give the Govs the 47-46 lead would finish with 15 points while Barry would also add 15 for Pierre.

The Governors are now 3-1 and will travel to Watertown on Tuesday for a girls and boys doubleheader. Coverage begins at 4:30 with tip off of the girls game at 5:00 and the boys game to follow. Both games will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
