Governors Face Sturgis, Spearfish with Boys Home and Girls on the Road

The Pierre Governor basketball teams will be back on the court this weekend as the Governor boys will be hosting Sturgis and Spearfish with the girls traveling out west.

Both the girls and boys teams are 1-1 to begin the season with wins on Saturday. The Gov girls will face Sturgis tonight as the Scoopers will play its first game of the season and after a 2-15 season will look to improve its record. Spearfish on Saturday, comes in at 1-0 to the weekend with a win in its only game over Belle Fourche 57-48. The Spartans went 10-10 last season.

The Governor boys will be at home for the first time this season and will take on Sturgis tonight as Tyan Buus will play against his former team. The Scoopers went 10-10 last year and will play its first game tonight. The Spartan boys team is also 1-0 with a 60-22 win over Belle Fourche. The Spartans went 6-13 in 22-23.

Coverage of the boys game on Friday will begin at 6:30 with tip off at 7:00 and then on Saturday at 1:30 with tip off at 2:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler and Blake Dean on the call.
