The Oahe Capitals would fall on both Friday and Saturday, but beat Aberdeen on Sunday to go 1-2 over the weekend all at home.
On Friday the Capitals and Sioux Falls East Flyers would play to a 0-0 tie at the end of the first period before Topher Post for East and Jarron Beck for Oahe would score to send the game to the third period tied at 1-1. Three goals in the third period gave East a 4-1 advantage as Sam Sahly would score twice and a 4-1 lead was enough for the Flyers to hold even after Corbin Beastrom would score his first goal of the season and the Flyers would take it 5-2. Spencer Anderson would stop 25 shots on 30 attempts in net.
On Saturday the Capitals would score first against the Watertown Lakers as Aiden Dozark would make it 1-0 after one. However, Mylan Evans would score three straight goals for the Lakers including a shot off the back glass and redirecting in as Watertown would lead 4-2 after the second period. Evans would score his fourth of the game and Barrett Schweitzer would score of Oahe. Luke Miller would add his second goal of the season to cut the lead to 4-3, but Tommy Foley would add the insurance to pick up a 5-3 win. Jaxon Jungwirth would make 20 saves on 25 shots in his first ever varsity start.
On Sunday, the Cougars would score the first goal of the game but two late first period goals by Keegan Kitts and Dozark would give the Caps a 2-1 lead. Oahe will never trail the rest of the way. Beck and Devin Dodson would score in the first minute and 20 seconds into the second period to give Oahe a 4-1 lead and Beck would score on a 5-on-3 short handed chance to give the Caps a 5-2 advantage after two periods. Andrew Coughlin would score his first of the year to go up 6-3 before Aberdeen would cut it to 6-5 with two quick goals but Schweitzer’s insurance goal helped seal the win before Dodson would cap off the night with his second of the game and Oahe scored eight goals for the second time this year with an 8-5 victory. Anderson would make 23 saves in net.
Oahe is now 2-3 on the season and will travel to Sioux Falls next weekend taking on Sioux Falls East on Saturday night and then Brandon Valley Sunday afternoon at the Denny Sanford Premier Center. Both games will be on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports.
