The Chamberlain Cubs would lead the entire way throughout the first game of the season and would defeat the Stanley County Lady Buffaloes in Ft. Pierre 44-25 on Tuesday night.
Chamberlain was able to hold down the Lady Buffs through the first half with a 28-8 to lead although Stanley County would outscore the Cubs in the second half 17-16. The early lead big advantage for the Cubs was too much for the Lady Buffs to overcome in the second half. Cadence Hand would lead the way for the Lady Buffs with nine points, Kaysen Maggee and Mattie Duffy each would have seven. Chamberlain’s Jayna Handel had the game high 21 points for the Cubs and Kinsey Evans would finish with 18.
Stanley County will quickly get back on the court on Thursday, this time on the road to face the Miller Rustlers in the first doubleheader of the season. It will be Miller’s first game. Tip off is scheduled for 6:30 for the girls game.
