Northwestern Gets Second Half Lift for Trip to NAIA Semifinals

Tied 10-10 at the half, the Northwestern Red Raiders would outscore Saint Xavier 24-7 in the second half to win 34-17 and advance to the NAIA semifinals.

Northwestern would score the first 10 points of the second half and would never trail in the game going up 3-0 and 10-3 before halftime. Saint Xavier would take a kickoff back late in the third quarter for its only score of the second half to make it 20-17, but two touchdowns in the fourth quarter helped seal the win for the undefeated Red Raiders going to its fourth straight NAIA semifinal. Onida’s Morris Hofer didn’t play for the second straight game.

The Red Raiders get one more home game, the semifinals on Saturday against Georgetown of Kentucky. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 from Orange City, Iowa.
