The Oahe Lady Capitals improve to 3-0-1 on the season after sweeping the Sioux Center Storm on the road with a 4-2 win on Saturday and 6-4 win on Sunday.
The Caps on Friday would score the first four goals of the game as Brylee Kafka would score in the fist period and Kafka and Emily Nemec both would score in the second period to take a 3-0 advantage. Kafka would finish off the hat trick and help pick up the 4-2 win as Sophia Peschong would make 22 saves on 24 shots. Cami Larson would have an assist on the first goal of the game.
On Sunday, the Capitals would give up the first goal of the game for the first time this season but Micah Buffalo would tie it, Kafka would give the Caps the lead, but it would be 2-2 at the end of the first period. Oahe would score four of the next five goals including Katherine Reiss giving the Caps the lead at 3-2 Kakfa making it 4-2. Faith Vanvoorst would make it 4-3 but Kafka made it 5-3 and would score her fourth goal of the game to make it 6-3. In the last three games against Sioux Center, dating back to the state tournament, Kafka has scored 13 goals in three games against the Storm. Peschong would make 15 saves on 19 shots.
Oahe will have just one game next weekend, the home opener against the defending state champion, Brookings Rangers. Coverage will begin at 1:00 with puck drop at 1:30 on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports.
