The Oahe Capitals boys and girls team will be on the road this weekend as the Capital boys are looking for the first win of the year in Huron while the girls will travel to Sioux Center looking to stay unbeaten.
Oahe Capitals in Huron for Lone Game of Weekend
The Oahe Capitals will be looking for its first win of the 2023-24 season on Saturday with its second road game, traveling to Huron to face the winless All-Stars.
Huron is 0-2 coming into the weekend with a game against Brandon Valley on Friday, who is also 0-3 to the start the year. The All-Stars lost its first game to Mitchell 8-2 and then dropped a 10-1 score to Sioux Falls West. Ethan Busch has scored all three goals for the All-Stars.
The Capitals come in to the game scoring six goals last Saturday, but gave up a four goal lead to Mitchell. Regardless of the team the Caps are playing on Saturday, Oahe wants to shut down the All-Stars and get the confidence going on the defensive side of the ice and pick up the first win of the year.
Puck drop from Huron is scheduled for 7:00 from the Bergman Ice Arena.
Oahe Lady Capitals go to Sioux Center for Weekend Series
After getting three of a possible four points in the first weekend of the season, the Oahe Lady Capitals are back on the road this weekend playing the Sioux Center Storm with games on Saturday and Sunday.
The Capitals scored eight goals in its two games, tying the Mitchell Marlins 4-4 and beating Watertown 4-2 and now face a Storm team who is 0-3 having lost its first game to Brookings two weeks ago and being swept in Aberdeen last weekend. Sioux Center lost 5-4 to Brookings, but then the Cougars shutout the Storm in both games in Aberdeen.
The Capitals had five of the eight goals scored from Brylee Kafka last weekend and goalie Sophia Peschong was sharp making 45 saves on 51 shots in two games to begin the season.
Saturday’s Puck drop is scheduled for 4:30 with Sunday’s puck drop at 11:45, all at the Sioux Center Vernon.
