The Pierre Governor wrestling teams will be up in North Dakota this weekend as the girls will wrestle in Bismarck while the boys will be in Mandan.
The Governor girls are returning after winning the second straight team title and now into the fourth year of girls wrestling over all. The Governor girls had just one state champion individually last year with Ciara McFarling winning her third straight, but return Sydney Uhrig who placed second as well as also Dani Ringstmeyer who was third and both Abbi Lewis and Lexie Hilmer, both placing fourth at the state tournament.
The Governor boys won’t return a state champion from last year, but Trey Lewis, Chance Carda, Tristan Spencer and Alex Oedekoven all return after placing second in the state tournament last season on a team who won dual state championship for the second time in three years and as a team placed third behind Brandon Valley and Watertown.
Both the girls and boys team will wrestle on Friday and Saturday starting at 3:00 on Friday and then 9:00 AM on Saturday.
