PIERRE, (KCCR) — Two Pierre area nonprofits are benefiting from grant awards from the South Dakota Community Foundation. The Southeast Community Center in Pierre received a 10-thousand dollar grant this week from the South Dakota Fund. The grant will help support the continued mission of the Southeast Community Center. The Center hosts the community banquet and is the only group in the Pierre/Fort Pierre area to provide a free meal every week. The Southeast Community Center has host the Banquet for 30 of the Banquet’s 35 years. The Banquet serves around 250 meals per week. The Southeast Community Center also offers senior meals and works with Feeding South Dakota on a summer backpack program. Sotera Youth and Family Services was awarded 22-hundred dollars from the South Dakota fund. That funding will assist Sotera with providing a group curriculum to families in central South Dakota relating to difficult parenting issues for Foster Families affected by child abuse and neglect.
