School of Mines Holds Off Black Hills State in Men’s Basketball

The South Dakota School of Mines Hardrockers were able to hold off the Black Hills State Yellowjackets on Monday night for a 77-69 win in Spearfish.

The Hardrockers would build a six point lead at the end of the first half at 42-36 and the Yellowjackets had to battle its way back in the second half, tying the game once, but the School of Mines were able to shut the door and get the lead all the way up to 11 before the final tally. Matthew Ragsdale would lead everyone in scoring knocking in 23 points for Black Hills State while Alejandro Rama would lead the Hardrockers with 22 points. Pierre’s Jackson Edman would total 11 minutes in the game going 2-2 from the field including a one handed dunk, scoring four points, grabbing five defensive rebounds and blocking a shot. The freshman has appeared in five of the first six games for Black Hills State.

The Yellowjackets fall to 2-4 while the Hardockers improve to 2-4. Black Hills State will travel to Denver, Colorado on Friday to face Regis University and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs on Saturday in Colorado Springs.
