Two Lyman High School Students Heading To Washington DC With South Dakota JAG Group

PIERRE. (KCCR) — Two students from Lyman High School in Presho are among a total of five who will represent South Dakota’s Jobs for America’s Graduates program in Washington D-C this week. Melina Shields and Sophia Langenbau of Lyman are taking part in the JAG National Student Leadership Academy being held Thursday, Friday and Saturday in our nation’s Capital. The National Leadership Academy is a capstone leadership experience for state officers and select chapter officers. The students will receive leadership training, visit with members of Congress, take part in a wreath-laying at Arlington National Cemetery and go on a twilight monument tour among other activities. The JAG program is a leadership development and career exploration program for middle and high-school students. The program looks to increase graduations rates among at-risk students. Other schools represented include Bennett County High School, Wagner High School and Roosevelt High in Sioux Falls.
