Marlins Storm Back, Defeat Capitals in Season Opener

The Mitchell Marlins would score the final six goals of the game coming back and defeating the Oahe Capitals 8-6 Saturday night at the Mitchell Activities Center.

Oahe would jump out to a 3-0 lead at the end of the first period as both Devin and Dylan Dodson would score the first two goals of the game and Luke Miller would add the third and the Caps were off and running. Nate McCormick would get the first goal for the Marlins early in the second before the Caps would fire back two goals from Jarron Beck and a second from Devin Dodson. Levi Loken would make it 5-2 before Beck would score his second and get the lead back up to four at 6-2. Then the Marlins started the comeback trail with another goal from Loken followed by Parker Denne’s first of the game which made it 6-4 at the end of two periods. Loken would score his third and fourth goals of the game in the first five and a half minutes of the third period to tie the game at 6-6 before Pacxton Denne scored the game winner with three and a half minutes to go. Parker Denne would add on the insurance with just over a minute remaining and the Marlins jump to a 2-0 record scoring eight goals in each of its first two games.

The 0-1 Capitals will travel to Huron next week Saturday to face the All-Stars. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 from the Bergman Arena.
