Capitals Fend Off Lakers to Win First Game of Season

The Oahe Capitals would travel up to Watertown for a second game of a back-to-back and defeat the Watertown Lakers on Sunday 4-2 behind a Brylee Kakfa hat trick.

Kafka would finish with four points in total as she scored the first three goals of the game for Oahe. Kafka would score the first goal of the game with three minutes to go in the first period and then add her second in the first minute of the second period and Oahe would build a 2-0 lead. Emma Schluesner would pull Watertown within one as she scored her first goal of the year coming on the power play but Kafka would answer back getting the hat trick and eventual game winner as Oahe would lead 3-2 heading into the third. For the second time in the game, the Caps would strike in the first minute as Kafka would find Cami Larson in front of the net for a one-timer to add the insurance and Sophia Peschong would make 15 saves in net and the Oahe defense limited the Lakers to just three shots on goal in the third period to secure the first win of the season and finish the weekend with three out of a possible four points. Watertown falls to 0-2.

Oahe, now 1-0-1, will travel to Sioux Center next weekend for a weekend series against the Storm. Puck drop on Saturday is scheduled for 4:30 and then Sunday morning at 11:45.
