FORT PIERRE, (KCCR) — The South Dakota Department of Transportation is putting westbound bound traffic back on the westbound side of the John C. Waldron Memorial Bridge. The two eastbound lanes are now open for eastbound only traffic. While the westbound side of the bridge is open only one lane will be. The westbound lane is still closed and will be closed intermittently as the weather allows to allow for construction work during the winter. While the bridge returns to a normal traffic flow for one more winter, the public is reminded to stay alert and watch for construction traffic and workers on the bridge. The opening of the westbound lanes for winter also means the 10-foot width restriction over the bridge is lifted. Signs pushing over-width traffic over the Oahe Dam will be removed by Tuesday.
