The Pierre Governor football team will garner nine total players in the 11AA All-State teams with seven receiving first team and two on the honorable mention.
On the offensive side, Jett Zabel would be one of the three tight end/fullback/halfbacks as the tight end would have nearly 1000 receiving yards catching 18 touchdowns while also having five rushing scores along with his 99 yard touchdown pass to fellow All-State member, Cade Kaiser in the state championship. Kaiser would throw for 2160 yards while rushing for over 900 yards scoring a total of 40 touchdowns, 31 through the air and another eight rushing. Kaiser is one of five athletes selected for All-State. Joining the two on offense is Matthew Brewer, the most outstanding lineman of the 2023 state championship. Defensively for Pierre the Governors had an All-State member on each level. Spencer Easland, the team leader in interceptions with five is one of four defensive backs. The Governors also had Chance Carda and Trey Lewis as linebackers. Carda led the team in tackles with 68 while also recovering a fumble. Lewis, the Joe Robbie MVP winner would collect two interceptions, a fumble and contribute 43 tackles. Emmit Anderson on the defensive line would lead the team in sacks with six while also having a team leading 17.5 tackles for loss. Brock Moser and George Stalley would each get an honorable mention for the Governors as Moser, who played hurt the final quarter of the year, tallied six rushing touchdowns on 420 yards while also picking up 221 yards receiving on 22 catches. Stalley, the only non-senior to be honored on the All-State teams for Pierre, as the junior had six touchdown catches and would catch 29 passes for 530 yards.
