Judge Grants Motions For Defense Private Investigators In Two Hughes County Abuse Cases

PIERRE. (KCCR) — A judge in Hughes County has granted a similar motion in two separate court cases to allow defense attorneys to obtain the services of a private investigator. Sixth Circuit Judge Bridget Mayer granted a motion for a private investigator for 41 year-old Brandi Barringer. Barringer is charged with two counts of Contributing to the Abuse, Neglect or Delinquency of a Minor. Barringer has pleaded not guilty in the case. Mayer set a limit of 15-hundred dollars for the investigator and told defense attorney Jamie Damon that the investigator must disclose they are working for the defense in the case. A private investigator was also granted for Kelsey Howe. Howe is charged with Child Abuse and three counts of Domestic Abuse, Simple Assault. Mayer set a limit of 25-hundred dollars for the private investigator in that case. Hughes County State’s Attorney Casey Deibert did not object to either motion in the cases. Court dates in both cases have been set for mid-December.
