A rematch from the 2015 state championship, the Pierre Governors and Yankton Bucks will meet in Vermillion for the Class 11AA state title tonight.
Yankton’s last trip to the Dakotadome was in 2015, beating the Pierre Governors 21-20 in overtime. Since then, the Govs won six consecutive titles and one win away from a state record for most consecutive titles in the state. More importantly, than the 2015 game, Pierre and Yankton played a great game in Yankton back on September 15 with the Govs beating the Bucks 27-14. The Governors would win both of its playoff games 49-26 over Spearfish and 35-14 over Watertown while Yankton beat Huron 17-0 and Tea Area 33-25 to reach the title game.
