Philip Uses Power Rushing, Punishing Defense to Advance to Semifinals

Senior Ryker Peterson rushed 35 times for 286 yards, and the Philip Scotties cruised to a 46-15 victory over the Chester Flyers Thursday night in Philip.

Strong winds and precip in some form either drizzle or snow didn’t stop the Scotties from running their potent offense all throughout the night. Philip finished with 379 yards of rushing offense with 43 yards passing.

And when they played defense, the Scotties shut down a multiple attack offense for most of the night. The Flyers feature Jovi Wolff, a state track winner in their arsenal along with a bruising tailback Garret Hansen, but Chester could only muster 19 yards rushing although were able to compile 189 yards through the air. Chester finishes the season at 5-5.

The 10-0 Scotties will now host 7-3 Deubrook, a surprise winner over previously undefeated Alcester Hudson 14-10, while the other semifinal matchup pits 8-2 Canistota at 10-0 Warner, both games being held next Friday.
