The Pierre Governor football team scored 49 points in the first half and after a 49-0 lead at the break, would defeat the Spartans 49-26 Friday night to advance to the 11AA semifinals.
Trey Lewis would take the opening kickoff 82 yards before the Govs would convert on fourth and goal to get on the board first with a Jett Zabel touchdown run. George Stalley would make two catches, both for touchdowns while Cade Kaiser would have a 15 yard touchdown run and throw for four touchdown passes, two to Stalley, and one to Zabel and Tyan Buus. Lewis would also score on the ground as Pierre continued to have short field after short field which included recovery a fumble on a kickoff and Lucas Chamberlain blocking a punt.
Spearfish would score all of its 29 points in the second half as the Spartans, with limited numbers would keep their starters in while Pierre could sub down.
